Emily MacVane, LMSW
Hi! My name is Emily, and I am a licensed social worker who works primarily with children and teens. I specialize in helping younger children navigate anxiety, ADHD, and regulating their emotions. I also work with teenagers and young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or those seeking a safe space to express themselves.
Often, behavioral issues at home and school stem from difficulties in recognizing, communicating, and coping with emotions. Whether your child is shy, quiet, and hesitant to try new things, or they are quick to frustrate and find themselves in trouble, their behavior is usually a reflection of their emotions.
In my office, sessions typically involve art, games, stories, and play. I believe therapy should be a fun and enjoyable experience where kids can learn and practice new skills and build their confidence to handle anything life throws at them.
I truly enjoy building relationships with the families I work with, creating a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment, allowing kids to build trust and enjoy therapy. I spend most of my time on the floor with my clients, playing games and building skills in a fun and engaging way, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, reading, spending time with friends, and hanging out with my cat, who you will most definitely hear about at some point! I really love the work that I do, and I hope you feel empowered to reach out and get the support that you and your children deserve. Please reach out with any questions or to set up an appointment, I can’t wait to meet you!
