• Laura Mutrie, LCSW

Hello and welcome! My name is Laura Mutrie, LCSW, and I am a passionate and empathic therapist with more than 20 years of experience collaborating on change with diverse people of all ages. I have faith in human relationship as a means for each of us to achieve positive change in our lives. To that end, I have been most interested in collaborative work with clients that meets you where you are and helps you plan your goals particularly during times of stress and transition.

I believe life is a series of transitions- growth and development- each one– a new school, a new job, anew home, a new marriage, a diagnosis of chronic or even terminal illness, the loss of a loved one, a new career path, the loss of vision; or an acceptance of the truest version of yourself– poses unique challenges and possibilities for positive change. I am here to consistently see and support you as you explore and understand the life changes brought by these transitions.

Over the years since getting my MSW at Fordham University with a specialization in children and families, I have learned that the best therapy and the best therapist is the one that works for you. I have trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy; Polyvagal-informed trauma treatments; a variety of in-home therapies; narrative therapy; family systems therapy, supervision and positive parenting practices. I have worked in outpatient clinical settings, in schools, in the community, and in-homes. I work with individuals, groups, families, and couples. Each of my experiences informs the work we will do together, but on your journey, I am only your guide. I look forward to meeting you and learning about how best to help you on this journey.

In my off time, you will find me spending time with family, walking and playing with my dog, and cooking (not baking!).
